01 / What survives
Compatibility
Only triangles survive. This table states what each conversion discards.
| Feature | CAD sources (STEP / IGES / BREP) | Mesh sources (STL / OBJ / GLB / FBX / ...) |
|---|---|---|
| Geometry | Exact B-rep surfaces are tessellated into triangles. Four detail levels control the deflection. | Existing triangles pass through unchanged; no re-tessellation. |
| Colour and material | Dropped in every output format. | Dropped in STL, OBJ, PLY and 3MF; kept in GLB and glTF. |
| Units | Read as millimetres, then discarded: STL, OBJ and PLY store no unit. 3MF does store one. | Not carried into STL, OBJ or PLY. A slicer assumes its own unit. |
| Structure and history | Flattened to one mesh. Sketches, constraints, assembly tree and PMI are lost. | Flattened to one mesh. Object hierarchy, bones, animation and texture paths are lost. |

Each pair has a page covering what the source stores, what the target keeps and where the conversion fails.

Formats and interoperability
Input is detected from the extension. Detail levels appear only for CAD sources, where they set tessellation deflection.
Input step · stp · iges · igs · brep · 3mf · stl · obj · ply · glb · gltf · fbx · dae · 3ds · amf · usdz
Output stl · obj · ply · glb · gltf · 3mf · usdz
Output opens in: Cura, PrusaSlicer, Blender, Windows 3D Viewer. STL, OBJ and 3MF suit slicers, GLB and glTF suit web viewers, USDZ suits AR viewers. These are standard formats; no endorsement is implied.
04 / Questions
FAQ
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser reads the file into memory, parses it locally and writes the result as a download. There is no upload endpoint and no account system.
Why is there no quality setting for mesh files?
Detail levels control how finely curved CAD surfaces are tessellated. Mesh files already contain triangles, so there is nothing to tessellate and the control is hidden.
Can I convert more than one file at a time?
One file per run. Switch the output format or detail level to re-run the same file from memory, or drop a new one.
